Coffee Grind Selection

The grind is as important as the beanThe Roasted Bean Boutique has the equipment to grind your coffee to order. We can offer beans or ground coffee, but if you want the very best out of your coffee it must be prepared correctly.

Always use a burr grinder not a blade grinder, and the slowest speed possible as heat from grinding can alter the bean flavour. A hand grinder is best, or a slow electric burr grinder.

Beans

If you have your own grinding facilities or equipment at home, this is the best way to buy coffee. The bean will lock in the freshness and the full flavour will be released once you have ground the coffee. Your beans will be vacuum packed as soon as they have been roasted.

Cafetiere Grind

Cafetiere ground coffee is made to a coarse grind; anything other than this would just seep through the cafetiere and into the coffee. Cafetieres are also known as French Press, Coffee Press, Press Pot or Coffee Plungers. The cafetiere is a very popular device, which produces stronger coffee than other coffee brewing products. The equipment is usually made of glass and has a plunger with fits tightly with a wire mesh acting as a filter. Coffee is made by adding ground beans and water together and leaving them to brew for no longer than two minutes, then pressing down the plunger to separate the coffee and your brew is ready.

Espresso Grind

The Espresso is roasted coffee beans ground to a consistency between extremely fine and powder. The consistency needs to be perfect when using with Espresso machines or equipment. The coffee is produced by forcing hot (not boiling) water under high pressure through the coffee. This gives you a wonderful espresso brew, which can be drunk on its own, or as a base for a cappuccino or mocha. You would use the espresso grind with an Italian coffee pot or espresso maker.

Filter Coffee Grind

Also known as Filter Ground Coffee, the coffee is ground to a fine level, but not as fine as Espresso or Turkish. This coffee is usually used with a paper filter using a drip brew method also known as American Coffee. Filter coffee makers are easy, and clean to use, leaving a nice aroma of coffee lingering around you home or office all day.

Percolator Grind

Percolator grind will be a fairly coarse grind of coffee, ensuring the flavour is locked in until the last minute. The traditional percolators make a great spurting and steaming sound, so you know when you coffee is ready! The percolator was very popular in the late 80’s around the world; bring great tasting coffee into the home.

Turkish Grind

Turkish grind is roasted coffee beans ground to a fine powder, which is then used in a special Turkish coffee pot. Turkish coffee is thick and has a foam top; the coffee is usually served sweetened and with a glass of water to help freshen the mouth so you can enjoy the fuller taste before sipping your coffee.
